It's Madness...March Madness!

via
Hello, Friends! Sorry to take so long to make another post. We are knee deep in fevers, drippy noses, and ear infections. I would write that I'm the only one who is not sick, but don't want to jinx myself.

Being kept inside is not too bad of a thing, because today starts one of my favorite sports events of the year... March Madness!!! Woot! Woot! Pre kids, G and I would meet up at a local sports place and take a long lunch to watch the first of the games. Such fun! But that's not how I came to love the event.

In 2005, my dad was diagnosed with bladder cancer. He was fortunate enough to have it cured through a surgery. It was a difficult surgery -- one that kept him in the hospital for 10 days and off work for many weeks. His surgery happened seven years ago, and through his recovery, we watched March Madness and he taught me things about basketbal I never knew and elevated my appreciation for the sport and this unbelievably exciting tournament.

Each year when I fill out my bracket,  I remember that special time I had with him, when the beeps of the machines, the routine of being checked by nurses, and the sounds of the hospital faded into the background and what emerged was the thrill of watching student athletes and their coaches play their hearts out right down to the very last second and doing it for the love of the game.

Here's to you Dad!! Love you!

Happy March Madness!!
Jenn

I taught you well -- you kick my butt with your brackets.
    Love,
    Dad
